Noel Gallagher will one day be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the immortal group Oasis. The songwriter, who penned classic after classic in the mid-90s, showed his touch for writing catchy songs and the ability to move an audience hasn’t passed him by as he approaches the age of 50.

The sold out show at the House of Blues, which attracted a crowd of 30 and 40 somethings, was full of energy from well before the doors opened. The line to enter the gig stretched far onto East 4th Street as eager concert goers tries to snatch up the best places to watch in the general admission era.

Most likely, the aging rock fans wanted a walk down memory lane with sing-a-longs to the numerous hits in Gallagher’s back catalogue. The British legend was up to that task in his all-business type of show, which didn’t include much banter with the enthusiastic crowd, featured a number of show stopping highlights such as the crowd taking over vocal duties for Champagne Supernova and Don’t Look Back in Anger off of Oasis’ breakout album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory which propelled them to stardom stateside 20 years ago.

Gallagher also showed his songwriting hasn’t regressed since becoming a rock n roll veteran. The show didn’t lose any momentum when playing tracks off of his two solo records, the most recent which is entitled Chasing Yesterday which was released this spring, and the audience received the entire set with zeal.

While Oasis will likely be a first ballot edition to the rock hall in a few years time, it will be interesting to see if Noel Gallagher manages to get elected for his solo work down the road. If it were up to this writer, the answer would be a resounding yes.
